## Experience

### Everfi from Blackbaud

**Principal UX Engineer, Design Systems**

_December 2024–Present_

- Lead design direction, React implementation, governance, and adoption for **Unified Design Language** (UDL), the shared design system spanning 3 platforms and 40+ products across admin, learner, and K12 experiences.
- Architected a token pipeline connecting Figma variables, GitHub, and Style Dictionary, producing shared tokens across React (Styled System), web (CSS variables, SCSS), and Tableau (XML).
- Authored base component styles and integrated tokens into component API.
- Prototyping AI-assisted migration workflows grounded in design-system components and tokens.
- Established OKLCH color system (27 palettes, 365 colors) and theming to enhance WCAG conformance, support light/dark modes, solidify brand expression, and generate color-blind safe data visualizations.
- Lead UI design for a new **K12 platform** in React, translating beta feedback and usability research into dashboard, progress-tracking, data visualization, and navigation patterns.

#### Principal Designer, Design Systems

_December 2022–December 2024_

- Consolidated fragmented product and platform component libraries into a unified design system across admin, learner, authoring, and course experiences.
- Defined core foundations — color, typography, spacing, density, motion, component behavior — through reusable tokens, specs, and cross-product guidance.
- Partnered with engineering to define monorepo architecture, contribution workflows, and migration strategy for a React-based system.
- Built React component demos and theming proofs of concept to validate system scope, API direction, and color mode support before broad rollout.
- Maintained connected Figma libraries and authored migration documentation for designers and engineers.

#### Principal Designer, Platform UX

_June 2022–December 2022_

- Initiated what became **Unified Design Language.** Ran the org-wide product audit that surfaced fragmentation across component libraries, admin platforms, end-user products, and whitelabeling; built and pitched the executive case for a consolidated system; authored the initial design language strategy, system health criteria, and implementation roadmap to eventually power 40+ products.

### Everfi

#### Senior Interaction Designer, Product

_March 2020–June 2022_

- Built and governed a shared **Figma library used by 30+ designers across 72 products**.
- Led product design for **Forge**, an internal Git-connected Electron app for course development and implementation, allowing users to build products and generate code using the component library and internal SDK.
- Designed complex interactive data visualizations, animations, and new interaction patterns for a K12 Data Science product suite.
- Established design-to-development workflows, documentation practices, accessibility review, and front-end implementation guidance to keep Figma components and production UI aligned.

#### Interaction Designer, Product

_April 2018–March 2020_

- Originated and led design of **Furnace**, Everfi's first in-house component library and theming system for e-learning products.
- Drove cross-functional adoption that grew responsive products **from 13 to 77** and **reduced component-related accessibility bugs by 83%** within its first two years.
- Created scalable visual primitives — color, typography, spacing, layout, borders, radius, elevation — reducing theme complexity while extending flexibility and maintainability.
- Introduced universal RTL and multilingual support, custom themes for 12+ sub-brands, and fully branded experiences for customers including **Google, Beyond Meat, Kroger, and the NHL**.
- Partnered with content, engineering, visual design, product, and QA teams to design and implement new reusable interaction patterns across product lines.

#### Product/UX Designer

_August 2017–April 2018_

- UX lead for **Achieve**, Everfi's flagship adult financial education product, used by 900+ financial institutions to reach 1.6M learners per year.
- Designed **Engage**, a tablet-based progressive web app for guided financial education workshops, with live polling, interactive calculators, and progress tracking for both facilitator and participant.
- Built reusable templates and interaction patterns supporting financial education products across mobile, tablet, and desktop.
